Sir Chip was adopted by Ashley.

Ashley writes:"Chip is doing FANTASTIC. I started riding him shortly after I last talked to you. We began slowly by just working in the pasture and let me tell you...I can see why he may not have been a star on the track! But I absolutely love that about him. We than worked on riding around outside the pasture, but still in the yard and he was yet again perfect! Some days aren't as good as others and I just accept that and then other days I swear he knows EXACTLY what I am thinking. He loves his walks...I took him around the neighborhood behind the barn and to my house and everything. He thinks the grass is very good at my house apparently because I woke up to him in my FRONT YARD one morning. Apparently he's a jumper too. When I went to go get him, he couldn't seem to understand why he wasn't allowed to graze there (haha). (We fixed the rail he knocked down...no worries!) He whinny's and everything for me know when I greet him in the mornings and he loves his apples! Next summer, we have a camping trip planned with some other horses and their riders, so we're very excited about that. His cut on his leg healed wonderfully and looks just fine. I've also learned that he HATES to be clean. As soon as he gets a bath or brushed he literally runs back into the pasture and rolls right in front of me. I included some funny pictures that I hope you enjoy. "
CHARLOTTE ADOPTED LE PANS
Six year old Le Pans came to SRF straight from the track. Shortly after his arrival, Charlotte came to meet him. She loved his personality right away and decided to take him despite the fact that he hadn't been backed yet. Since then, Le Pans has been trail riding and pleasure driving. Check him out here in his new home. Notice the happy ears and bitless, open bridle. Le Pans is settling right in to life as a pleasure horse. Congrats Charlotte on your new addition!
Finbar and Murphy

Financial Peace came off the track in June 2008 and was adopted by Francesca that December. Since then, he has been in dressage training and is extremely athletic and supple. This beautiful boy has really put on the muscle and could pass for a warmblood any day! He is enjoying life in the garden with his friend, Murphy, also adopted from SRF.
Allegro, Melody and Stormy

When a past adopter of Stormy found herself in need of two more trail safe horses, she came straight back to SRF. Lo and behold, she took Melody of Love and Allegro Ballad home. It seems that SRF horses really complete this family!
Linda writes:
"The horses are doing great.
In the picture we have my step-kids riding them for the first time. They did GREAT! I had Melody on a lead line just because Seth was a little nervous, but on Saturday he rode her all by himself and he is a complete beginner. She is just what we wanted for him. We went by dogs that were chasing us, a skidder and a guy with a chain saw and they did not budge. I am so proud of them!! The kids absolutely loves them and it is an argument who gets to ride Allegro! My husband rode Stormy whom I adopted from SRF 3 years ago.
I will keep you updated.
Linda, Lance and family!"
Lynn and Pearly

In another Volunteer Meets Perfect Horse scenario, Lynn Symmons adopted Pearly Diamond just in time for Christmas! Lynn and Pearly have been enjoying quality time together. Pearly has been welcomed into the family and even made an appearance on the Symmons' Christmas card. Congrats, Lynn and Pearly!
TAMARIE & TAYLOR

Tamarie from Colorado just adopted three year old Cheyanne Taylor. This beautiful boy is going to start his new career as a dressage and trail horse. Good luck Taylor and Tamarie in all your riding endeavors!
Guiness and Zoe

He's the Most and Fox Valley MyLady just found their forever home... together! Congratulations to Chris and Emmy on the new additions to your family!
One year later:
early spring making good use of the indoor riding ring. I have been on horseback since I was a very young child and to be honest I was wary of taking in two retired race horses, but our two new additions quickly put my fears to bed. Even though Guinness, who had almost never been ridden, would break a sweat just being saddled in the begining; he gave me the benefit of the doubt and slowly over the winter we worked up to real trail ride for the early spring and that begining trust blossomed into a deep understanding that further bloomed into a deep freindship. I can honestly say that I have been around horses off and on for my whole life, and have never seen two horses so eager to please and so quick to learn. Emily and I moved into our "Forever home";) in August and of course on our almost 30 acre farm we brought every member of our family and that means that our pampered horses now found themselves in an almost 6 acre fenced in field that is their new forever home. Where we all live affords us tens of miles of old dirt road to explore via horseback, and we use it!Copyright 2011 Standardbred Retirement Foundation. All rights reserved.
