Dear Trainers & Owners:

The Win*Win Program is an easy, tax-deductible way to make a much needed difference. When your horses race, whether you are an owner, trainer or driver, the tracks will send an amount of your choice from the winnings to SRF to help feed and care for a horse in need.

An example:  As an owner, with your horse racing for a $5,000.00 purse, a 3% donation translates to only $4 if you finish 5th; that is about half a bale of hay. On a perfect day, when your horse lights up the board, your trip to the Winner’s Circle would mean a $75 donation. With that, SRF can care for a horse in need for nearly a week.

Why SRF?  Horses that are no longer competitive are often sold to dealers who frequent the tracks. Many of these dealers are from the Amish community. However, the Amish need for buggy is small compared to the thousands of Standardbreds being thrown away.The dealers resell them at livestock auctions. From there, thousands are shipped to Mexico and Canada where they are slaughtered. Their meat sent overseas for human consumption.

How SRF helps:SRF can continue to provide an alternative by find loving homes and protecting horses for life. Standardbreds live into their 30s and adopters often have life changes which can put an adopted horse at risk again. SRF’s model program follows-up semi-annually to ensure proper horse care for life.

SRF’s  youth programs provide an opportunity for kids and horses in need.  SRF horses also work at the NJ Juvenile Justice System, the Newark Police Dept., Rutgers University campus patrol, and other mounted police forces across the U.S. Other horses are adopted by the Connecticut Governor’s Guard and various therapeutic riding programs for both children and adults.
