needed and $12,000 to release them from the "kill pens", but without homes an additional $3,000 for each horse is also needed to give them care, likely through the winter, until adoptions pick up again.

Annoucing the SRF Elitloppet Winner
4/27/18
The annual fundraiser for the Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF), the raffle to win a trip to the fabulous Elitlopp race in Sweden, has some terrific history behind it. First, the winner is Adam Skipper of Hardwick, NJ. The story
behind it all starts with the wonderful sponsorship of the trip by Marc and
Marci Goldberg, the owners of Arch Madness who is now lovingly retired
with them. The winner of the ticket had his name entered by Norman
and Carol Birenbaum who every year contribute a book of tickets for SRF to
choose a name of someone who has donated his time to help the 29 year
old organization. Adam Skipper generously took on the effort to repair a
horse trailer donated several years ago. He did a great deal of work to
make it safe again for use for the horses; it was nearly a complete rebuild.

Retirement Foundation (SRF) is trying to keep from slaughter, have a reprieve, but do not have homes, Valid Moment, Native Avenue, and DeMartini. They do have donations to care for them until SRF can hopefully find them homes. Secret Impression who has a home is now sick and injured. A veterinarian has been called. Her home is now pending.
Ten Horses Still at Risk, Says SRF
4/24/18
The deadline is looming, even with a 24 hour extension for the Standardbred
Retirement Foundation (SRF) to be able to help all 21 horses in kill pens. Still,
Yankee Fur/Stubling, Secret Impression, Nole, Aristicracy, Loutopia,
DeMartini, RC Kettle Chip, Dale and Valid Moment have no offers. We were
told Hillbilly Style/Letsgo Dort was incorrectly identified; we are working to
find out the true identity of this horse, who is also still without a home.

Do You Recognize Any of These Horses?
4/20/18
20 Standardbreds are weighed and tagged to ship to the Mexican and Canadian slaughterhouses.
Because the Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) is presently paying for all the care, board and medical needs on 390 trotters and pacers it cannot
take on these needy horses, but there are ways to help. The greatest need for each of these horses is a soft landing, a place to live out their last years.
Their ages range from 12 -21. Here is how you and SRF can save these horses that likely have been pulling heavy farm equipment, and were used for
transportation since leaving the racing oval.
